Calgary Foundation Strategic Opportunity Grants — 2026

Investigate, develop or test responses to emerging community needs. Small charities can seek CAD5,000–CAD15,000, depending on the planning stage.

Eligibility

Registered charities or qualified donees in good standing with CRA, operating in Calgary and area, with annual operating budgets below CAD2 million and no overdue reports.

Funding streams

Investigate: up to CAD5,000. Develop: up to CAD10,000. Test: up to CAD15,000. This supports planning and design before implementation. Routine operations, programme expansion, service-delivery equipment and fundraising are ineligible.

Apply

Review the guidelines and discuss the initiative with Foundation staff, then submit through the portal. Applications are due at 4 p.m. on the last day of each month. The next deadline is 31 October 2026.

Original currency

The original maximum award is CAD 15,000 (Canadian dollars). The USD field is an approximate equivalent, rounded to a whole dollar using the 29 October 2026 exchange rate.
